6 Random Things

6 Random Things
I was tagged by Carrie, who is my favorite sister in the whole world. I am supposed to come up with 6 random things that people might not know about me. Hmmmmm...lets see what I can come up with.

The rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they have been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

1. I have a sister who is seven years younger and a brother who is thirteen years younger, and there isn't a day that goes by that I wish I had done better by both of them. I see Madison and Emerson (5 years apart) getting along really well, but wonder a lot what the difference was with 7 years and why I was so crusty to her? As for my brother, I love him lots, but there was an age gap that kind of ripped us both off, and I know I have been crusty to him too. I wish I had done better by both of them.

2. It never occurred to me that I was overweight growing up until someone told me I was and it never left me. I haven't been content with my physical appearance since. I was wearing a size 8 dress at our homecoming dance in HS...what the heck! I wish I could go back and push back harder sometimes. Clearly now it's a valid statement, but I wonder if it would be if the words hadn't been uttered back then?

3. God gave his Son to rescue me. The moment I realized someone could love me THAT much, I got on my knees. When I thought of how my heart would break if I had to sacrifice someone I loved so much for the salvation of someone else, I "got it"...God did that. He did that for me, of all people! And yes, He most definitely did it for you too. Look at your children and imagine the sacrifice God made...I have.
I am thankful, and amazed, and in awe...every day.

4. I am a re-writer. I can be 3/4 of the way through a written letter and if I make a mistake, I don't cross it off or white it out, I have to start over. This extends into other areas, shopping lists, "one on one" meeting notes at work, thank you notes, everything. Also, I LOVE pretty stationary and pens, and all things related to writing tools. Someday I hope to have one of those embossing stamp/press things with my initials and address and regularly visit sites to start a pretend order. If I had small cheerful room with a white desk, tons of fun pens, and a wall full of shelves filled with pretty paper and envelopes I would probably never leave. Oh, and maybe a computer too so I can search for pretty paper.

5. I wish I could sing in front of people, well besides Jon and girls anyway. I did it once in an audition for a high school musical a very long time ago, but I haven't a clue how. I don't necessarily mean to perform in front of thousands (which I will admit would be nice), but even places like church. I am unable to find my tone in the middle...the ladies sing so high and the men so low, and I am in between but can't find it when everyone is singing around me. This bums me out because church is the place where I would most love to sing and be heard.

6. If I could have 10 cats just like Katie and Buddy, well mostly Katie, I would.

I don't have 6 blog friends, well I do, but I don't want a restraining order against me, so I will have to just link back to the one that won't...my sister, Carrie. Wish I could remember how to link.

Job Update

Jon has been offered a position, in a time where positions are highly sought after and hard to come by, but this one comes with extra choices.
Please pray...pray with all your might that God's plan for our path becomes clear.
Thank you!!

Date Night!

I had a very special evening with my date...

I was picked up at the door, brought out for an amazing evening, had refreshments, great, meaningful conversation, was dropped off curbside, given a big hug and a unsolicited "I love you".
Going out with my little sister sure is fun!

Added bonus...I got to meet Sara Groves again!

Thankful

Elizabeth McHugh, 64, a mother of three and grandmother of six, was on her way home to Charlotte, N.C., after a visit with a daughter who lives in Matewan, N.J.:
“There wasn’t a problem when we took off. Then there was a big bang.” After the pilot announced the plane would go down, the flight crew was shouting out instructions: feet flat on the floor, heads down and cover your heads. “I prayed and prayed and prayed. Believe me, I prayed.”
“I knew we were going to crash. The question was: how close to the buildings were we going to be. Honestly. I thought we were all going to die.” Before impact, “I kept thinking to myself, “I didn’t get a chance to tell my family I love them.” She’s been flying several times a week for 10 years. “I thought today was that day.”
Her son-in-law, Mark Jameson, works in Hoboken and said he saw the plane outside his window. He immediately thought, “Uh-oh, I bet my mother-in-law’s on that plane.”

Computer time with Mom and Dad

Katie and Buddy on a blanket at our feet napping while we are working at the computers.
Too funny!
Isabelle was actually down there too, but she started bullying to claim a prime spot so she is on a time out.

Who Is Yours?

I watch Grey's Anatomy and I am not ashamed to say I love the show.
It has absolutely no redeeming value whatsoever, but I watch and I am not afraid to admit it.
My favorite part about the show...Meredith and Christina.
They were interns together, endured failed and successful relationships together, and are pretty much the yin to the others yang.
I know they aren't real people, so stay with me here...on more than one occasion one has come to the other in a time of great distress and with a no more than a look, are united in a way that only a best friend who knows the depths of the others heart and soul could possibly be.
Meredith is Christina's "person".
I have a "person" too, her name is Tammi.
She has literally been my best friend for just a few years short of my entire life. She was at my 5th birthday party in her white party dress admiring my self created pixie cut, she attended the famous Muscular Distrophy carnival I held in my backyard, she moved away, but then came back in 5th grade, and with a small wave in the library, I had my "person" back.
Tammi was literally holding me up when I tried out for but didn't make the danceline in Junior High, she was there to let me live vicariously through her when she did. Tammi was there when I started to think of Jon as more than a friend, and when Jon and Lisa, the couple, began.
We got ready for all of our high school dances together, sat at her kitchen table and played "Kings in the Corner" together for hours, and sang "Evergreen" from " A Star is Born" (go figure) on video together. I got ready at her house on my wedding day, she was my Matron of Honor when Jon and I were married, and the calming, reassuring, smiling face I got to see when my labor with Madison started to really hurt.
We almost became step sisters at one point (long story) and she even lived with us for a short spell not long ago...you get the picture.
At every turn, she has been there...she is my "person".
To my "person", I love you...you are the wind beneath my wings.
We all have one, and I think today would be a great day to remind our person how much we love them...I just did!
So, who is YOUR person????

Happy 56th Birthday Mom/Grandma!

We love you very much!
